Most meeting participants will require an “Ordinary/Tourist Visa”. An ordinary visa is issued at any Tanzanian mission abroad.  It enables the holder to be granted a visitor’s pass of three months at any entry point (border, airport, harbour).  If you live in a country without a Tanzanian mission OR where the Mission is reasonably distant you shall be issued a visa at your point of entry into Tanzania.

Ee strongly recommend that you obtain your visa in advance so you can leave the airport/border promptly after your arrival.

If you decide to obtain your visa at point of entry, be prepared for long queues and a sense of chaos.  At port of entry visas can only be paid for in US dollars. Have $20, $50 and $100 bills ready. US Dollar bills should be newly issued bills: after 2003. They should also have no tares or default. See Money section for more information about specifications for cash payments.
